Creality CR Black ABS 3D printer filament is engineered for
functional prints that need to hold up under heat, impact, and
everyday mechanical stress. ABS is a go-to material for
enclosures, brackets, housings, and structural components where
PLA simply won’t hold up. Stocked locally in South Africa by
Vexil 3D Labs — available now, no international lead
times.
Key Features
- Impact and Stress Resistance: ABS
handles mechanical loads and repeated impact with greater
resilience than PLA — well suited to parts that take regular
use or physical stress. - Heat Resistance: Withstands higher
operating temperatures than PLA, making it a practical
choice for parts mounted near electronics, motors, or warm
enclosures. - Consistent Diameter: Maintained at
1.75mm with tight tolerance (±0.03mm) for reliable extrusion
and consistent results across multi-hour prints. - Post-Processing Friendly: ABS machines
cleanly — it sands, drills, taps, and responds well to
acetone vapour smoothing for a polished final
surface. - All-Purpose Black Finish: Black hides
layer lines well and suits functional, industrial, and
display applications equally — one of the most versatile
filament colours in any workshop.
Recommended Print Settings
- Nozzle Temperature: 230°C – 270°C
- Bed Temperature: 80°C – 100°C
- Print Speed: 40–100mm/s
- Cooling Fan: OFF or minimal — active
cooling on ABS causes thermal contraction, layer splitting,
and warping. - Enclosure: Strongly recommended. ABS
prints in an open environment but an enclosure is strongly
recommended to prevent warping on larger parts. - Drying: Recommended — reseal the spool
bag after use. If filament has been exposed to moisture: dry
at 70°C for 4–6 hours before printing.
Ensure adequate ventilation during printing — ABS
produces fumes and should not be used in unventilated
spaces.
Compatible Printers
Compatible with most FDM printers. Best results with an
enclosed printer. Suitable for Creality CR-10, Bambu Lab X1/P1
(enclosed), Prusa MK4 with enclosure, and similar machines.
Not recommended for open-frame printers on large parts.
